Some could argue that all of Thailands beaches are beautiful and they would probably be correct. However here is my list of the 6 most beautiful beaches in Khao Lak that you simply must visit! It's not like it would be a chore to try & see them all after all. Most of them will also be able to provide you with a beverage and a snack too! We hired a scooter and literally beach hopped for 4 weeks, I didnt want to miss out. Go on, see if you can tick them all off!
At Number 6: Coconut Beach
Just around the corner from White Sand beach is Coconut Beach, so it has the benefit of also having stunning sand. A lovely restaurant is right on the beach, but having turned up at Chinese New. Year Day it was funnily enough very closed. There seemed to be a lot more going on in this area with activities for people to do due to the hotels being on the beach front. A good choice if you have kids to entertain in a beautiful setting.
At Number 5: White Sand Beach
The clue is in the name, the sand on the beach is not only a stunning white colour but it feels like powder beneath your feet. There are several hotels here which lead right out on to the beach and therefore there are also restaurants.
Number 4: Khuk Khak Beach
A few beaches south of Coconut beach you will find Khuk Khak beach where the JW Marriott hotel is situated. This beautiful beach has the benifit of long views, gorgeous sand and a plethora of restaurants and massage huts dotted along the shoreline underneath the trees. We loved it here and enjoyed a lush lunch.
At Number 3: Small Sandy Beach
This beach almost got to number one on my list as it was just divine. Part of Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park, you will need to do a little trek in order to find it. The trail is quite steep in places so take care if you are not a great walker. There is an entrance fee of 200 baht for tourists, but this will get you in to this beach and allow you to walk a circular walk up to the viewpoint at the top of the hill where the tourist centre is. You will also be able to use the ticket to get in to one of the large waterfalls in the area too.
The beach itself lives up to its name, it is small but it has the wow factor! Huge lava rocks rise out by the shore and there is a little wooden bridge to cross to gain access after your mini jungle trek. This only didn't get further up the list as there was nowhere to get a well needed refreshment when we arrived. The little shack was very closed. Unsure if this is permanent or just due to covid. The restaurant/bar at the top of the hill after the walk was also closed so we were a little parched as were stupid and hadn't packed a drink!
At Number 2: Bangsak Beach
This is at number 2 of the most beautiful beaches in Khao Lak as it was our hotel beach. We chose this one because it is 5km long, a bit wild but stunningly beautiful. There are a handful of beach restaurants still open after covid has devastated peoples livelihood. We were very welcome guests as hardly anyone was out and about. There were so many shells everywhere as the tourists had not been scavenging them all. Some of the hermit crabs we saw were just huge!
And the winner of the 6 most Beautiful Beaches in Khao Lak is........Poseidon Beach
What can I say other than we loved it so much we went a couple of times. The perfect powdery white sand in lava rock scenery with old & new restaurants right on the shore. If you want traditional food you have three lovely places to choose from. It you want something more modern for your insta post then head to Paradise Cafe, a multi-layered lush cafe up in the trees, but also on the beach!
